HÂþ» and CyberNB partner on post-grad cybersecurity program

FREDERICTON – New Brunswick Community College (HÂþ») is partnering with CyberNB to help meet the demands for cybersecurity expertise in New Brunswick. A new one-year advanced (post graduate) diploma program will begin in September 2018 at the Saint John Campus.

“We are pleased to be working with CyberNB to make New Brunswick a national leader in cybersecurity. This new program will provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that industry is seeking and help expand the cybersecurity infrastructure in New Brunswick,” said Marilyn Luscombe, HÂþ» President and CEO. “This partnership is a great example of how new collaborations can help us meet the aspirations of learners and the needs of the labour market.”

CyberNB, a Special Operating Agency of Opportunities NB (ONB), has demonstrated that New Brunswick is the Canadian epicentre of cybersecurity. New Brunswick is the first province to develop a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy.

”Partnering with academia and industry is a critical component of our strategy to help mitigate the global shortage of cybersecurity professionals,” said Allen Dillon, Managing Director, CyberNB. “Working with HÂþ» and all of our academic partners is yet another example of how the ecosystem in New Brunswick is laser-focused on creating a safe and resilient internet for Canadians.”

One of the five components of the CyberNB strategy, CyberSmart, is dedicated to creating a pan-Canadian skills and workforce development strategy that encompasses cybersecurity professionals and all complementary and supporting professions. Collaboration with industry, academia and all levels of government are essential to the success of this goal.

The new program will provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that industry is seeking, and help expand the cybersecurity infrastructure in New Brunswick. The admission requirement for this program is a diploma or degree in network administration or computer science or equivalent experience in network administration.
